What better way to say goodbye to summer than with a free concert under the stars? This Labor Day weekend, why not gather up your family and head to Conejo Community Park in Thousand Oaks, CA for the end of their summer concert series?

     Each year, the Conejo Recreation & Park District puts on a summer concert series for locals, and Labor Day weekend is the final show of the event. The concert is family-friendly and completely free, which makes it a fantastic event for everyone. As always, they saved the best show of the season for last! On Monday, travel back to the 1960s and see Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band! Additionally, make sure to come hungry, as food vendors will be on-site selling snacks and refreshments.

     While everyone, including the tourists, knows about Malibu and Venice Beach, few know about Point Mugu State Park. In additional to miles of ocean shorelines and sandy beaches, Point Mugu has fun activities for the whole family! If you like just to relax, find a secluded portion of the beach or take a break in one of the well-maintained picnic areas for a restful break from city life. On the other hand, if you prefer to break a sweat on your weekend excursions, you’ll find the more than seventy miles of trails a welcome diversion to sitting in your beach chair.

The town has tons of great shopping and dining, or visit the Getty Villa, a world-famous art museum, to beat the heat! On the other hand, if you would rather spend your beach time in relaxing quiet, drive to Malibu! While it’s true that Malibu’s main beaches can become frustratingly packed, there are many secluded public beaches, like Pirates Cove Beach or Lechuza Beach.
   
     With two wonderful beach towns so close, there’s something for everyone down at the beach. Both Malibu and Pacific Palisades are both just a thirty-minute drive away from the Meadows at Westlake Village, using the scenic California Route 27!
